(WNFL) – Appleton North advanced to the WIAA Division 1 state softball semifinals with a rain-delayed 10-3 win over Stevens Point on Wednesday.
Drew Brown led Appleton North with 2 hits and 3 RBI. Alyssa Wald, Charlotte Radtke, Evelyn Frega and Kiera Hughes also had 2 hits a piece. Wald, Brown and Hughees each had doubles.
Radtke pitched a complete game for Appleton North, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits, 2 walks and 3 hit batters. She struck out 6.
Trailing 2-0 after 2 innings, Appleton North took the lead with a 4-run third inning, scoring the runs on 3 hits, 3 errors, a walk and a hit batter.
The Lighting built the lead to 7-4 and then broke the game open with a 3-run sixth inning, highlighted by a 2-run double by Hughes.
