Robert Chilcote (Marinette Co. Jail)
BUFFALO, Minn. (WTAQ-WLUK) – The charges filed by Minnesota prosecutors after murder suspect Robert Chilcote was arrested there would be dropped if he’s convicted for the murder of Gabriella Cartagena, the prosecutor said Friday.
Chilcote was arrested in Wright County, Minnesota, after allegedly killing Cartagena in Wisconsin, dumping her body in Michigan, and fleeing west. Chilcote is charged with eluding police in Minnesota after a pursuit which topped 100 miles per hour. He also faces an assault charge.
In court Friday, Wright County Attorney Brian Lutes said if Chilcote pleads to the murder charges in Marinette County, he would drop the charges there.
Chilcote has a status conference in Marinette on Aug. 18.
The Minnesota case will be reviewed Aug. 28.
No charges have been filed in Menominee County, Mich., in connection with the disposal of Cartagena’s body.
