WAUPACA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Police are reminding residents to lock vehicle doors and remove valuables from inside vehicles after a suspicious armed male was spotted looking into vehicles in a Waupaca neighborhood.
On Thursday, officers received reports of a male looking into vehicles near E. Lake Street and S. Main Street overnight. Video provided to police shows a thin male wearing jogging pants, a hooded sweatshirt, face covering, and what appears to be glasses. The individual also appeared to be armed with a handgun.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant, secure their vehicles, and report any suspicious activity immediately.
If you see this individual on your property or in your neighborhood, do not confront him. Instead, call 911 immediately and provide officers with as much information as possible.
Anyone with additional information or if you have video of the suspect you are encouraged to contact the Waupaca Police Department at 715-258-4400 and ask to speak with Officer Batte or Detective Sergeant Rodenz.
Officers will be conducting additional patrols and are continuing to canvass the area.
Police believe this could be connected to similar incidents occurring in other communities throughout Waupaca County.
