KENOSHA, WI (WTAQ) — Governor Tony Evers and some members of the Kenosha County Board are at odds over a visit planned this week by President Donald Trump.
Evers wrote a letter to President Trump over the weekend saying his presence will ‘hinder the healing’ that needs to be done in the community to overcome division.
Seven members of the Kenosha County Board, however, don’t see it that way. They signed on to a letter released Monday asking Trump to visit the area and not cancel his trip, saying Kenoshans are hurting for leadership and could benefit from the visit.
The President is expected to visit Tuesday to meet with law enforcement and elected officials and tour a city devastated by violent rioting that broke out last week following the police shooting of 29-year-old Jacob Blake.
