TOWN OF LIBERTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries in a crash in Manitowoc County Saturday night.
Just before 11:45 p.m., deputies with the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of County Road J and Roselawn Road in the town of Liberty for a single motorcycle crash.
Authorities said the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Roselawn Road when the operator, a 54-year-old man from the town of Liberty, failed to stop at the stop sign at County Road J. After clearing the intersection, the motorcycle then entered the ditch and struck a sign.
The man, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected. He was airlifted to a hospital to receive medical care for life-threatening injuries. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
“The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind all motorcycle operators and passengers to wear appropriate safety equipment, including helmets, eye protection, protective clothing, gloves and proper footwear whenever riding,” states a news release. “Taking these precautions can significantly reduce the severity of injuries in the event of a crash.”
