“Sword Yoga” is a high-energy fusion of vinyasa yoga, tai chi, and Shaolin kung fu that challenges participants to move through traditional poses while wielding a 30-inch straight sword.
The movement is largely led by the fitness firm WeaponUp, founded by Sabina Stoberg, who combined her background in martial arts with yoga to create a practice focused on “main character energy.” The swords used are typically unsharpened, lightweight jian (Chinese straight swords) designed for training rather than combat.
While the sight of a room full of people swinging steel might look intimidating, practitioners say the added weight of the sword helps build core strength, balance, and a “quiet confidence” that carries over into everyday life.
@theweaponup We don’t train to shrink ourselves or chase exhaustion. We train to move with intention. To feel grounded, capable, and powerful in our own bodies. WeaponUp blends vinyasa flow with straight sword practice to build strength, coordination, and presence. This isn’t about pushing harder. It’s about moving smarter, standing taller, and embodying power that’s calm, controlled, and unmistakable. Your sword is a tool. YOU are the weapon. Step into a practice designed for women who move differently. Join us at WeaponUp.com we will ship the sword to your door! ⚔️🌿 #weaponup #swordyoga #femininestrength #valkyrie #fitness2026 ♬ original sound - WeaponUp
