Prathab Muniandy, a 33-year-old engineer in Malaysia’s oil and gas industry, has officially been recognized by Guinness World Records for having the most teeth in a person’s mouth (male). Prathab has 42 teeth, 10 more than the average adult, and examinations even revealed two additional unerupted teeth waiting to emerge.
The discovery began casually during a family tea gathering in 2021 when Prathab mentioned he felt like he had extra teeth. After counting 38 at the table, a subsequent dental X-ray showed four more were on the way. By early 2023, all 42 had erupted. Despite the high count, Prathab’s smile remains relatively straight, as most of the extra teeth grew in a second row behind his primary ones.
While the condition doesn’t cause him physical pain or complications, Prathab admits that maintaining them is a time-consuming task. He brushes twice daily and flosses regularly, noting that the process takes significantly longer than it does for the average person. He was officially verified as the record holder in Klang, Selangor, on December 28, 2023, though Guinness recently highlighted his story in a new profile.
