MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — After a 90-day assessment period, Faith Technologies announced Tuesday it chose not to move forward with the purchase of the former UW-Oshkosh Fox Cities campus.
The Menasha-based company was eying the property for a potential training facility. Now, it’s back to square one for Winnebago County.
“We were excited, but obviously they said, ‘Look, we’re just going to be assessing this, along with other options,'” County Executive Gordon Hintz said. “This wasn’t something that we were expecting, but I think it was an exercise worth doing, and we definitely got some good feedback.”
Hintz says the county was never banking on Faith Technologies following through. The company was only doing a due diligence assessment of the property with no required commitment.
“Even when Faith was working on it, we’ve been working on our Plan B, knowing that there was no guarantee,” he explained.
Plan B includes reopening the Communication Arts Center and field house for use in the near future to help with costs. The Barlow Planetarium is already back to its regular operations.
Hintz said as of 2026 estimates, the campus costs the county $900,000 a year to upkeep. That’s before revenue.
The county can’t manage the property indefinitely and said it’s working towards alternatives.
“It’s hard to say. Are there other big companies that would consider an overall purchase of the campus? Not that I’m aware of right now,” Hintz explained. “There are a lot of other different models out there that I think fit that would really benefit the community.”
Hintz continued, “It’s a unique property. It has some great assets, its location is right there. So, if there’s any developers out there listening, or any investors that are, feel free to reach out to Winnebago County Executive Gordon Hintz and we’d be happy to meet and move forward.”
The county also plans to do a market assessment of the property to determine what would be a good fit for the 42-acre plot.
