It’s not every day you see a Green Bay local making world history, but Mackenna Tolfa, a Preble High School alum, has officially become the first woman ever featured as a drummer in the Blue Man Group’s world tour!
Mackenna’s journey to becoming a global percussion icon started in a very Wisconsin way: polka music! She caught the music bug at a super young age, learning the ropes on the drums alongside her uncle on the accordion. She eventually took those polka roots to the University of Minnesota to study classical percussion, which is where she landed the audition of a lifetime! Now, she’s trading the accordion for blue face paint and a high-energy world tour.
She’s heading back to the Midwest next week performing at the Miller High Life Theatre in Milwaukee on February 17th and 18th.
