Second graders at Valley View Elementary School got a heartwarming surprise just in time for Christmas last Friday, and it came from a local knitting club in Kaukauna!
Back in September, the students were asked to color their own winter hat designs as part of a class project. What they didn’t know was that their drawings would soon become real, handmade hats.
On Friday, the big reveal finally happened when members of the “Yarn It All” knitting group showed up with 42 custom hats, each one knitted to match a student’s original design. When the kids tore open their gifts, their reactions lit up the room, everything from wide smiles to excited exclamations. One student said she had no idea her drawing would actually come to life.
This marks the second year Valley View students have gotten this special surprise. It’s become a beloved winter tradition that not only delivers cozy gear for the cold months ahead, but also spreads joy and shows students the power of imagination
