Remember the golden era of McDonald’s PlayPlaces? The twisty slides, the climbing tubes, the ball pits teeming with both joy and an unsettling amount of germs? Well, a viral image from a Tennessee McDonald’s has parents mourning their childhoods.
Instead of a colorful jungle gym, this “PlayPlace” consists of… two chairs and two screens. That’s it. Just a couple of tablets mounted on the wall and a mysterious column designed for kids to, apparently, run in place. Comments range from “This is so depressing” to “That is the saddest example of modern society I’ve ever seen.” Meanwhile, McDonald’s has stayed quiet.
