1. After 138 years, Punxsutawney Phil and his wife Phyliss are new parents. She gave birth to two healthy groundhog babies the other day. They kept the pregnancy quiet. Even their handlers didn’t know.
The head of the “Punxsutawney Groundhog Club’s Inner Circle” says they went to feed them, and there were just two babies there. Phil told him they haven’t settled on names just yet.
2. Opening Day for MLB is in the books, and a pitcher who’s not even on a Major League roster yet also made headlines . . . Pirates prospect Paul Skenes. (pronounced “skeens”)
He announced he’s donating $100 to the Gary Sinise Foundation for every strikeout he records this season. He had 209 at Louisiana State last year. If he hits that mark again, it would be around $20,000.
3. A couple in California thought a wolf was on their property. But it was just a stray husky looking for food, so they took him in. No owner has come forward, so they’re planning to adopt him. They named him Balto.
