NEENAH, WI (WTAQ) — A suspect is facing attempted homicide charges after a Monday night stabbing incident in Neenah.
At approximately 11:06 p.m., Neenah Police Department officers were dispatched to a weapons complaint in the 2100 block of Marathon Avenue.
The disturbance resulted in a subject being stabbed approximately 17 times. The victim remains in the hospital and the suspect was taken into custody.
“The suspect and the victim were known to each other, it was not something at random,” said Officer Joe Benoit. “There is no further risk to the public at this point.”
Since the incident, a search warrant of the residence where the incident happened has been applied for and executed. The investigative lieutenant and other staff are going through media and going through standard protocols to determine what lead to the incident and why it happened.
The Neenah Police Department was assisted by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol.
