GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A prayer effort was held Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay, unifying with churches around the world praying for peace.
This special Holy Hour service comes as battle and bloodshed continues to rage on in the Middle East between Israel and Hamas, a Palestinian militant group.
“We want to pray for all people. All people around the world. We want to pray for peace in our hearts. Healing in people’s hearts. Any place that’s divided by war and conflict, we want to bring the peace of our faith and unite in prayer for everyone,” said Fr. Brian Belongia, pastor and rector of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral.
One of the elements of Tuesday’s prayer service was an Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, which Fr. Belongia said allowed people to pray in Jesus’s presence.
Additionally, a number of special prayers were incorporated in the service, including a Chaplet prayer, the Rosary and the Benediction.
“We’re praying for the Holy Land. We’re praying for the world,” Fr. Belongia said. “And we’re praying that peace enter our hearts, that the Holy Spirit enter our hearts, that it may change hearts. That peace may come.”
