(WTAQ-WLUK) — As the American death toll continues to rise, Wisconsin lawmakers are speaking out about the violence in Israel.
While touring a Greenleaf farm Wednesday, Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin stood firm on her stance of the ongoing fighting.
“I stand with the people of Israel,” said Baldwin.
The other side of the political aisle is also echoing that support.
“We need to be backing Israel to the hilt,” said Republican Representative Mike Gallagher (8th District) in a Fox News interview on Tuesday. “We traditionally supply about 50% of the Iron Dome system for example. We need to make sure that that’s replenished.”
The conflict is beginning to have a larger impact here at home.
Sen. Baldwin says there are Wisconsin residents who may be trapped in Israel.
“I certainly am aware of Wisconsinites who were traveling in Israel and are seeking resources about how to return home,” said Baldwin. “We’re sharing those resources and we expect that there will be further information soon.”
On Wednesday, Sen. Baldwin sent out a release regarding $6 billion in Iranian assets.
Until I have full confidence that Iran did not play a role in these barbaric terrorist attacks on the Israeli people, the United States should freeze the six-billion dollars in Iranian assets.
At least 22 Americans have been confirmed dead as a result of the attacks.
