GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — An annual tradition comes back again this June as Wisconsinites celebrate dairy month.
The first June dairy month was celebrated in 1939. However, June milk month was recognized in 1937 and 1938.
One organization celebrating dairy month is the Dairy Business Association.
The Dairy Business Association is a nonprofit organization made up of Wisconsin dairy farmers, milk processors and business partners.
“We’re here to help support them in any way we can,” said Travis Senn with the Dairy Business Association. “Weather that’s in the capitol building in Madison trying to get policies moving forward, and showcasing the great work that they’re doing.”
There’s over 157,000 jobs in Wisconsin related to the dairy industry; including farmers, processors, veterinarians, nutritionists, implement dealers, and mechanics.
A popular way for Wisconsinites to celebrate dairy month is by attending one of the various Breakfast on the Farm events held throughout the state.
