OMRO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A woman is dead and a man is in custody following a police standoff in Omro on Saturday.
It happened when the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist the City of Omro Police Department with a welfare check.
Members of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Negotiator team were deployed to the incident when it was determined there was a disturbance with a weapon.
While officers were on scene, the suspect discharged a firearm multiple times from inside the residence. After a brief stand-off, a 22 year old male exited the residence and was taken into custody.
Upon entering the residence, a 20 year old female was found deceased. The manner and circumstances surrounding her death are still being investigated. No further information will be released this weekend.
