(WTAQ) — Daylight savings time is fast approaching. When you change your clocks on Sunday, it’s a good idea to take a look at your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department recommends to change the batteries and test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
Lt. Shauna Walesh with the Green Bay Metro Fire Department says on smoke alarms there’s a button on the face of the detector that can be pressed down. Once you hold it down, it will beep to let you know that it’s in working order.
Walesh has been with the Green Bay Metro Fire Department for about 10 years.
“Unfortunately, we have seen a few, for smoke and carbon monoxide, where people have not had the detectors,” said Walesh. “And they’ve gotten ill, or something tragic happened.”
Saturday night into Sunday morning, we will lose an hour of sleep as the clock leaps forward.
