GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The Green Bay Police Department swore in 7 new officers during a ceremony on Monday morning at Lambeau Field. Chief Chris Davis noted that after this swearing in ceremony, the Green Bay Police Department has just one more vacancy.
“We do anticipate some retirements next year, so we are still actively hiring,” said Davis. “But to be down to one vacancy in an agency of this size is pretty good.”
Green Bay Police has been actively working on their recruitment efforts. Davis said the department has adopted a more collaborative leadership style; and they’ve made investments in training, professional development, and employee wellness.
Richard Neldner and Ezekiel Stoll are two new officers that were in the Green Bay Packers’ Gameday Security Internship program. Justin Crabb,
Assistant Director of Security at Green Bay Packers, says that this program was started in 2016 because a lot of their staff were college students in criminal justice programs. So, the Green Bay Packers decided to officially partner with the police department, Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, Fox Valley Technical College, and Lakeshore Technical College to create the official program.
The other officers that were sworn in are Savanna Anderson, Grace Bessey, Austen Jahnke, and Abigale Skeens.
The Green Bay Police Department now has 180 sworn officers and six recruits, who are scheduled to attend the Law Enforcement Recruit Academy in January 2023.
