MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The opening of Menasha’s Racine Street Bridge is delayed again.
The bridge is now expected to open in mid-January, the state Department of Transportation says. Adverse weather is being blamed for the delay.
When the $33 million project began, the bridge was initially scheduled to open in September. In August, that schedule was revised to December because of a delay in the delivery of parts.
After the bridge opens, it is set to close for three to four weeks in the spring for balancing of the lift span.
The bridge connects downtown Menasha with Doty Island across the Fox River. Construction to replace the previous 68-year-old bridge began in 2020.
Roundabouts at the ends of the bridge opened in September.
