GILLETT, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Zippel Park in Gillett will be a winter wonderland for Christmas in the Park on Saturday.
After a few minor adjustments, Jerry Luther says he’s ready.
“This year, I got, it’s a Christmas tree display. I try to change it out every year. Some years I have a nativity scene. Some years, I got Santa Claus. Some years, a snowman. It’s just, I like to keep it changed up,” said Luther.
Luther’s display is part of Saturday’s seasonal celebration in Gillett.
Co-chair Irene Drake says children and adults will find food, a bake sale, craft-making, and even a visit with Santa Claus.
“For three dollars, and we do a lot of family pictures. So, you bring mom and dad and grandma and grandpa. It’s still three dollars, and kids can sit on Santa’s lap,” said Drake.
Drake says as the sun goes down, park displays will be lit for the first time, and that’s not all.
“We have fireworks at 5 p.m., which is kind of neat, because the kiddies aren’t sleeping, so that’s kind of neat. They can sit in the car and park around the perimeter and watch the fireworks,” she said.
Drake says the event puts people in the holiday mood.
“Everybody gets together and we get to just have fun,” she said.
And whether it’s a festive tree or even a holiday-colored tire, Jerry Luther says he likes them all.
