NEENAH, WI (WTAQ) — The Neenah Police Department is coordinating an effort to send a truckload of relief supplies down to Florida to help out in the wake of Hurricane Ian.
Chief Aaron Olsen says they asked a local trucking company, N&M Transfer, for their help in driving the supplies down.
They agreed, and now they’re parking a semi-truck in the parking lot of the Green Bay Road Pick n’ Save location in Neenah this Wednesday where volunteers will be accepting supplies all day.
“Water is the main thing they need, but then any kind of dry food and cleaning supplies,” Olsen told WTAQ. “I also got word today that they really need generators.”
Olsen hopes that some local businesses may pitch in to cover the cost of a generator or two. The truck will start driving down Thursday morning.
“We know that the Neenah community and the surrounding community is very generous,” Olsen said Monday. “We hope that everyone can pitch in a little bit.”
The supplies will be unloaded in Florida and distributed with the help of police there.
