OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Winnebago County authorities are looking to the public for help in its investigation into a hit-and-run boat crash on the Fox River last weekend.
On July 9, a powerboat crashed into a cruise paddleboat on the river in Oshkosh before leaving the scene. Of the 43 passengers aboard the paddleboat, seven were injured as a result of the collision.
Over the course of the investigation, officials identified and arrested the driver of the powerboat. The suspect, Jason Lindemann, 52, of Oshkosh, has since been released on a $10,000 cash bond
No formal charges have been filed against Lindemann, however officials are recommending he be charged with 12 counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety and 11 misdemeanor counts of failure to render aid after a boating accident.
Investigators have also interviewed all seven occupants on the powerboat and are now working to speak with all 43 passengers of the paddleboat.
On Thursday, officials say they believe they identified and attempted to contact everyone who was listed on the paddleboat’s manifest that day, they have not spoken with everyone.
Deputies are asking that if you were a passenger on the paddleboat and they have been unsuccessful in contacting you, please contact the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators are also looking to speak with anyone who saw the powerboat at any time on July 9.
