The Green Bay Packers keep getting thinner at the wide receiver position as Marquez Valdes-Scantling is taking is deep threat speed to Kansas City. Valdes-Scantling has agreed to terms on a three year contract worth a reported 30 million dollars, a deal that could earn him up to 36 million with incentives. The Packers were in negotiations with Valdes-Scantling, especially after trading Davante Adams to Las Vegas and watching Equanimeous St. Brown sign with Chicago, but the price got too high. The Chiefs needed a receiver to replace Tyreek Hill who was dealt to the Miami Dolphins for five draft picks earlier this week.
Valdes-Scantling joined the Packers as a 5th round pick out of South Florida in 2018 and caught a career best 38 passes his rookie season. His best year was in 2020 when he caught 33 passes, six for touchdowns and led the league with an average of 20.9 yards per catch. Injuries limited him to 11 games last year. For his career, Valdes-Scantling caught 123 passes with a 17.9 yard average and 13 touchdowns.
