MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services has announced that the state reached a somber milestone in the COVID-19 pandemic this week.
With 34 deaths blamed on the disease Wednesday, the state’s death toll from COVID has now reached 10,014.
Over 6,400 new positive tests were reported on Wednesday, with over 1,600 patients hospitalized and 405 of those are in intensive care.
The recent uptick in infections, hospitalizations, and deaths has been blamed on the fast-spreading Omicron variant, which was first detected in Wisconsin four weeks ago but has already become the dominant strain in positive cases.
