GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Brown County judge assigned to hear the case of a De Pere parent challenging the school district’s COVID-19 quarantine policy has removed herself from the case, and a temporary injunction hearing set for Friday is postponed.
Stephanie McManus, a substitute teacher and parent of two high school students, sued the district, claiming the district didn’t have the authority to enact the policy it did. The district has not responded to the suit.
The case was originally assigned to Judge Tammy Jo Hock, who scheduled a hearing Friday afternoon on a temporary restraining order. However, the judge filed notice Friday morning removing herself from the case. In it, it says “she cannot, or it appears he or she cannot, act in an impartial manner.” A more specific explanation was not provided, however.
Judge Kendell Kelley was assigned to the case. The hearing is now set for Nov. 1
