GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Summer is ending soon.
Fall will officially begin on Wednesday.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Scott Berschback says this summer has been wet and hot.
“The overall across northeast Wisconsin we saw an above normal summer as far as temperatures went,” said Berschback. “We also had above normal precipitation across much of the area as well.”
In Green Bay, rainfall was about six inches above normal at just over 17 inches. Temperatures were about 2.3 degrees above average at 70.8 degrees.
Expect those temperatures to calm down significantly. The breeze of Autumn is already upon us. Highs in the 60s are expected throughout the next week. Berschbeck says there will be one more chance for warmer temperatures later this month, but overall, the season is behind us.
“It’s pretty safe to say that any kind of summertime temperatures, we’ve turned the page on that,” he told WTAQ.
As for the Fall, it’s too early to tell exactly what might be in store.
“Our forecast is calling for equal chances for above normal or below normal so we’re expecting something close to normal, plus or minus a few degrees,” Berschback said.
Fall will officially begin at 2:20 pm Wednesday, the mome of the Fall Equinox–the astronomical change of the seasons. Meteorologists typically recognize September 1st as the start to the meteorological fall season.
