MANITOWOC, (WTAQ-WLUK) — Holy Family Memorial is offering COVID-19 booster shots to those with weakened immune systems.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized the shots for immunocompromised people earlier this month. HFM is offering boosters to those who:
- Have been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood
- Have received an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
- Have received a stem cell transplant within the last 2 years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
- Have moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)
- Have advanced or untreated HIV infection
- Are in active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids (more than prednisone 20mg/day) or other drugs that may suppress your immune response. These include: methotrexate, Arava (leflunomide), sulfasalazine, Imuran (azathioprine), anti-TNF medications (Enbrel, Humira, Simponi, Cimzia, Remicade), JAK inhibitors (Xeljanz, Olumiant, Rinvoq), Actemra, Orencia, Kevzara, Cosentyx, Taltz, Stelara, Benlysta, Skyrizi, or Tremfya.
