MENASHA, WI (WTAQ) – Old Glory Honor Flight is preparing for the first trip in nearly two years of NE Wisconsin military veterans for a day in Washington D-C, set for August 31st. But before that, the group is planning a major fundraiser.
Old Glory Honor Flight director Diane MacDonald says what’s called the Patriotic Picnic is set for August 28th, at Fox Cities Stadium.
“It’s the first time we’ve done this. We actually had it scheduled for last year but we had to cancel it.”
MacDonald says the picnic will run from 5 to 9 pm, and will feature bingo, silent and live auctions, food, and the evening wraps up with fireworks.
“The tickets are only $20, which is really reasonable. We wanted to make sure the event is accessible for everyone.”
MacDonald says money raised will go toward the operating costs of flying the veterans to D-C, ground transportation while there, and meals.
“It’s going to be a great event. It’s family friendly venue, it’s going to be outdoors. We’re just going to have a lot of fun.”
Tickets must be purchased by Friday, August 20th. More information can be found at Old Glory Honor Flight-dot-Org.
