STURGEON BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A man staying on his boat in a Sturgeon Bay marina had an interesting night as storms rolled across Northeast Wisconsin.
Strong winds and waves caused a dock at the Harbor Club Marina to break away into the Sturgeon Bay canal.
Boat owner and slip holder, Aaron Rositch, told FOX 11, he recorded about 44 mph winds and three foot waves in the channel around 1:30 a.m. this morning.
Rositch talked to another sailboat owner who said they saw wind gusts up to 65-70 mph out on the bay.
He also heard a loud crack, like a thunder clap and noticed Dock A had broke away.
No injuries or damages to boats have been reported. Crews are working to get the dock back into its right place.
Overnight storms in the region led to trees and branches coming down and a number of power outages as well.
