GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Green Bay’s redevelopment authority has voted in favor of allowing 200 apartments to be built on the city’s east side.
The apartments will take the place of the former J-B-S Packerland site along University Avenue.
Toonen Properties is taking over the project from TMD Properties. TMD had previously agreed to build more than 300 apartments on the site, but it is unable to complete the project.
Toonen will now take over building a smaller number of units. The value of the new project is estimated at nearly $25 million.
“I think it’s extremely exciting. This project is moving forward again. It’s a prime property within the city of Green Bay. Baird Creek behind it, great location next to the university on University Avenue,” Green Bay Redevelopment Authority Chair Gary Delveaux said.
The 209 market-rate units will divided among 12 buildings.
The project will be completed by the end of 2024.
