MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — New coronavirus case numbers weren’t as high as yesterday’s record-high, but the 7-day average of coronavirus cases rose since yesterday.
The Department of Health Services reported 946 cases on Saturday, which is 548 fewer than the record-high 1,498 cases reported on Friday.
DHS says there were results from earlier in the week that were reported late, which caused the higher case numbers on Friday.
In a statement, DHS also says there were issues with the laboratory test results that “have since been resolved.”
Those higher positive test numbers have also caused the 7-day average to rise to 9.5%, after staying relatively even the last few days.
Saturday’s case count (946) and positive test rate (11.8%) remain above their respective 7-day averages of 786 cases, and 9.5%.
7,961 of the sate’s cases are active.
15 new deaths were reported Saturday. 1,168 people have died from COVID-19 statewide.
Since the pandemic began, nearly 1.3 million tests have been given statewide, of which, 80,300 have been positive, and just over 1.2 million have come back negative.
71,153 people have recovered from COVID-19 statewide.
