GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — States like Texas and Florida are back to shutting down bars and businesses after a deadly spike in coronavirus cases.
While Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services have reported at least two days of increases racking up over one thousand new cases, could the state be headed towards the same fate?
“We can still be effectively operational while we’re still being cautious and responsible about how were operating,” said Rob Czypinski.
He’s the operations manager for Titletown’s Hinterland Brewery and Restaurant.
It’s only been open for dine-in for a couple of weeks.
Like many others, reopening came with some changes, like employees wearing masks and gloves, and installing plexiglass at the bar.
Czypinski hopes those changes will stop or slow spread of the virus.
But what if emergency orders close local bars and businesses again? Czypinski says following health guidelines and extra sanitation measures should keep that from happening.
“If we’re responsible and we handle things appropriately the way that we have here, building that trust with our clientele, asking our clients to have that same respect about social distancing, I think that we can avoid having to have another entire shutdown again,” he answered.
Earlier this month, Brown County Public Heatlh gave us this statement.
The department says it continues to work with area businesses on safety measures.
Still, guidelines from local, state, and federal departments are a choice.
A choice Czypinski says can determine whether Wisconsin will enact emergency orders in the future.
FOX 11 did reach out to the local Tavern League, whose leaders were not available to comment.
Brown County Public Health adds the best way to slow spread of the coronavirus is with individual measures, like wearing masks and gloves, washing your hands for at least 20 seconds and avoiding large groups.
