The great Athenian philosopher Plato once declared, “Life
must be lived as plae.” Oh wait, that’s “play,”
not “plae.” Or is it plae?
As much as I kid, the notion of play is precisely the
philosophy that drives the daily operations at Plae Bistro in Green Bay. They call themselves “A Place to Laugh and Eat,” and I can’t help but believe that the positioning of “laugh” before “eat”
is done so with careful premeditation, for it is impossible to dine at Plae and
exit without the realization that everything they do is calculated – every
detail is prioritized for the customer to take away more than a pleased palate,
but an exceptional
experience
. And believe me, they do not overdeliver on
atmosphere and service to cover for a deficiency in their fare. I always like to tell folks that it’s great
food and even better people, and since Jill Bassett opened in 2007, I’ve been
happy to reply “Plae” to anyone who asks the question, “Where should we go for
a great meal in Green Bay?”
It’s the perfect reply to anyone questioning to where they
should venture during Green Bay Restaurant Week, as well.
Plae fully embraces the opportunity to showcase their menu
during Green Bay Restaurant Week, offering some of their signature dishes
within all 3 price points: $11 lunch, $22 dinner, or $33 dinner. Reservations are recommended, though they do
not take reservations for their patio seating or for dining at the bar, so
there are some walk-up options available to you. You can see their full Green Bay Restaurant
Week menu right

Or you can just take a gander at these! Yeah baby!
Pan-Fried Pecan Encrusted Walleye:
Braised Short Rib Stroganoff:
Chilean Sea Bass:
We had the chance to sample all 3 this morning, and I feel that I
would do a disservice to the other 2 by simply recommending 1…though I am a complete
sucker for the sea bass, which Plae flies in daily (remember all that stuff
about the details I was spewing before?).
Do yourself a favor and Plae with your food this Green Bay
Restaurant Week (and beyond). And when you do, especially if it’s
your first time, please tell them that you heard it here. Obviously the ability to stuff my face with
some of the best that Green Bay has to offer on somebody else’s dime doesn’t stink
(LOL), but one of the great honors of this job is to be trusted by folks like
Plae to speak on their behalf. They have
sponsored this blog post today, and we always appreciate your help in letting
them know that their investment is working.
