OBIT: Former Wisconsin Governor Patrick Lucey, 96

MILWAUKEE (WSAU-MetroSource)   Wisconsin is mourning the death of former Governor Patrick Lucey. The 96-year-old died at the Milwaukee Catholic Home on Saturday, where he had lived for several years.

Lucey served as governor from 1971 to 1977 and was the vice presidential nominee on an independent ticket headed by John Anderson in 1980 after Anderson lost the Republican nomination to Ronald Reagan. Between his time as governor and running for Vice President, Lucey was the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico.

Governor Scott Walker recalled seeing Lucey last summer. Walker offered thoughts and prayers for Lucey’s family, saying he “was a dedicated public servant who loved Wisconsin.”

Funeral arrangements are still pending.
