There will be no repeat for the Algoma Wolves. The defending state Division 4 champions were denied a second straight by Cuba City 49-28 this afternoon at the Resch Center. Last year, Algoma routed the Cubans in the semifinals on their way to the title but this just wasn't their day. Leading 13-10 early in the second quarter, Algoma cooled from the floor and Cuba City finished the half on a 10-3 run and steadily pulled away in the second half. The Wolves (25-3) were led by senior Kennedy Blahnik with 11 points and Baleigh Delorit with 7 but they shot just 27.9 percent from the floor. Cuba City, making it's record 15th appearance at state, won a record extending 10th championship, five more than second place Milwaukee Washington. It's the 8th title under head coach Jeff Pustina. Mollie Wedige scored 18 points with 15 rebounds in the victory and Jessi Marti added 15 as Cuba City hoists another golf ball, finishing the year at 27-1.
