Been there, done that really helped the Algoma Wolves in their quest to win back to back state championships. The Wolves defeated a game squad from Fon du Lac St. Mary's Springs 42-37 in overtime at the Resch Center in the Division 4 semifinals. Algoma's defense held the Ledgers scoreless for the final 6 minutes of regulation and the entire OT period. The Wolves had all kinds of difficulty against the Springs defense too. The game was tied at 37 on a free throw from Anna Dier with 5:20 to play in the 4th. The teams went to overtime even at 37 all and Dier put Algoma on top for good with a put back basket with 2:10 to go in the extra period. A free throw from Meg Ryan and two from Kennedy Blahnik settled the issue. Baleigh Delorit led the Wolves with 14 points, thanks to 4, three point hoops over the Springs zone. Blahnik added a dozen and Dier scored 7. Dier missed the sectional final last week dealing with a bout of pneumonia but she said the antibiotics took hold this week and she hopes to be even stronger for Saturday's title game.
