One Direction, Bruno Mars, Lorde Win 2014 Brit Awards

One Direction, Bruno Mars , Lorde and Ellie Goulding were among the winners Wednesday night in London at the 2014 Brit Awards , the British equivalent of the Grammys.

One Direction was presented with a special Global Success Award to recognize the impact they've had not only in the U.K., but also around he world.  In addition, they won the fan-voted Best British Video trophy for "Best Song Ever."   According to Billboard , 1D's Harry Styles rushed on stage at the last minute, breathless, to accept the latter trophy, explaining to the crowd, "I'm really sorry, I was having a wee."

Bruno Mars was named Best International Male at the ceremony, while Lorde nabbed the trophy for Best International Female.  Both artists performed during the ceremony: Bruno sang "Treasure," while Lorde performed with the British electronic act Disclosure , doing a mash-up of her hit "Royals" and their song "White Noise."  Katy Perry also performed at the event, singing "Dark Horse."

Ellie Goulding, who sang her hits "Burn" and "I Need Your Love," was named Best British Female Solo Artist, while Bastille took the prize for Best British Breakthrough Act.

Daft Punk was named Best International Group and, while the French duo wasn't present, their collaborators Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers were, and they performed a medley of "Get Lucky" and Pharrell's hit "Happy."
