For the first time since 2008, the Green Bay Packers will carry three quarterbacks on it's opening day roster. The team reached the 53 man roster limit today by waiving 18 players and putting four more on the injured reserve list. Both Matt Flynn and Scott Tolzien made the squad after they played well in the last Preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs last Thursday night.
Five of this year's seven draft picks made the team and two undrafted free agents beat the odds, Jayrone Elliot and Mike Pennel.
Heading to injured reserve are Nate Palmer, a sixth round pick last year who injured a knee against the Chiefs, Aaron Adams who reportedly suffered ACL and MCL damage to his knee on the opening series of that game, rookie defensive tackle Khryi Thornton with a hamstring injury and tight end Jake Stoneburner.
The players placed on waivers inlcuded veteran Chris Banjo who was on the team in 2013. Kevin Dorsey, Jake Doughty, John Fullington, Alex Gillett, Michael Hill, Adrian Hubbard, Justin Perillo, Jumal Rolle, Luther Robinson, Carlos Gray, Myles White, LaDarius Perkins, Ryan White, Jordan McCray, Jeremy Vujinovich, Tanner Miller and Garth Gerhart.
