UNDATED (WSAU) - Another nutrition program from the government is going paperless soon. The paper vouchers for the Women, Infants, and Children program, or WIC program, will become part of the EBT card system now used for food stamps.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services Secretary Kitty Rhodes says moving to the cards will reduce errors, be easier to handle, and help prevent fraud. Their studies also show eliminating paper vouchers will help grocery stores and pharmacies process purchases easier and prevent disallowed items from being purchased under the program.

There are currently over 113-thousand WIC program participants in Wisconsin.
