Attorney's attorney off spousal assault case

APPLETON, Wis. (WSAU) - An attorney that has offices in Stevens Point and Appleton needs an attorney himself... again.

Attorney David Dudas is charged with thirty-one separate counts, all of them for sexual assault, battery, or strangulation and suffocation during a sixteen-month period ending in July. The alleged victim in every case is his wife Jill.

Dudas’ attorney Robert Bellin, Jr. has withdrawn from the case as of yesterday. Dudas has a preliminary hearing in Outagamie County scheduled for tomorrow, but it’s unclear if he will have a new attorney or attempt to represent himself.

Dudas is presently free on a $750,000 bond that was raised by his family. He is continuing to practice law while free on bond. The court has ordered Dudas to have no contact with Jill Dudas & any of their five children, including the adult children.

Three of the children have given statements describing a June 21st incident, which prompted one of the older children to take his mother to the hospital. The criminal complaint says Jill Dudas received severe head and neck injuries. It also says David Dudas made videos of himself allegedly assaulting his wife.

If convicted, Dudas could spend the rest of his life in prison with a sentence of over 700 years.
