1440 WNFL and UWGB Basketball

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Per an agreement between Midwest Communications and Nelligan Sports Marketing, Inc., 1440 WNFL has become the new flagship station of Green Bay Phoenix Athletics, Interim Director of Athletics Dan McIver announced on Wednesday. Beginning with the 2013-14 seasons, all men’s and women’s basketball games will be broadcast on 1440 WNFL.

“Midwest Communications’ desire to partner with Phoenix Athletics was clearly evident from the first discussion we had with them,” said McIver. “WNFL is one of the premier radio stations for sports fans in Northeast Wisconsin, and they are committed to helping our program grow its brand and visibility in the region as our flagship station.”

In addition to being carried on WNFL, men’s and women’s basketball games will be streamed live to GreenBayPhoenix.com and the Green Bay Phoenix Mobile App, allowing Phoenix fans anywhere to tune into the call.

WNFL will also provide lots of additional coverage of Phoenix Athletics as part of the agreement. Head coaches Brian Wardle and Kevin Borseth will appear weekly as guests on the Maino & Nick Show, and, each Monday, Wednesday and Friday, WNFL will air the Phoenix Minute.

Matt Menzl will remain the play-by-play voice of the men’s basketball program while Bruce VandePlas will continue to bring Phoenix fans the home and away games for the women’s basketball program.

"We are delighted to be adding Green Bay Phoenix Basketball to the 1440 WNFL lineup," said Jerry Bader, Midwest Communications National Director of News/Talk Programming. "We're proud to present the games and allow fans to follow the Phoenix on WNFL."
