MADISON, Wis. (WSAU-Wheeler News) - The C-E-O of a Madison-based clean technology company says they have created a plant-based, chemical-free soda bottle.

Lee Edwards with Virent says the company and Coca-Cola have been looking for a way to make plastic bottles containing no petroleum or plastics. Edwards says the new bottles, presented to Coca-Cola, is 100-percent plant-based and is completely renewable.

The soda giant has asked Virent and two other competitors to create a renewable, 100-percent plant-based bottle to be ready for mass production by 2020.
