After getting swept at Miller Park by the Los Angeles Angels over the weekend, the Milwaukee Brewers welcomed the National League Central Division leading Pittsburgh Pirates to town on Labor Day. The struggles continued as the Pirates scored a 5-2 victory. The Brewers grabbed the early lead and Tyler Thornburg pitched well enough, going six innings, allowing two runs on six hits. But in the 7th Neil Walker connected on a three run home run lifting the Pirates to the win. Charlie Morton improved to 7-3 by going seven innings for the victory. The Brewers got an RBI single from Logan Schafer. Jean Segura and Nori Aoki each had two hits. Michael Blazek pitched a scoreless 8th inning for the Brewers in his debut, acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend for former closer John Axford.
