A Colorado high school that created a video inspired by Katy Perry 's hit single, "Roar," has been named the winner of Good Morning America 's "Roar with Katy Perry Contest."  The grand prize?  A Katy concert, just for them.  Lakewood High School in Lakewood, Colorado, won the honor out of over 1,000 submissions.

Katy announced the winning high school live on Friday's GMA from London, where she was filming a video for her latest single, "Unconditionally." The 28-year-old singer said the "decision has been one of the hardest decisions that I ever had to make."

"Lakewood really embodied a whole school spirit. I think that they brought everyone together and you saw so many different people coming together to do one shot," Katy said of the video.  "And it was so incredibly crafted and all different types of school clubs and cliques [participated]. They all came together and did their own individual thing, but it was so interesting."

The video was directed and produced by student body president Courtney Coddington , who was clearly excited by news of the win. "God, it just means so much. I am just so happy. I want to thank GMA and Katy Perry and everyone who's involved. I don't even know what to say. I'm so excited!" she gushed.

Lakewood High School students will enjoy their special concert by Katy on October 25 -- Katy's 29th birthday -- that will be broadcast live on GMA.

Hundreds of schools from around the country submitted videos offering their own rendition of Katy's "Roar" after the Grammy nominated-singer first put out a call for submissions in September.

Lakewood High isn't the only winner in the contest. Verrado High School in Buckeye, AZ, also caught Katy's eye.  She said she was inspired by their video, which featured Megan Squire , a 17-year-old student with Down syndrome. Katy was so touched by the teen's story that she invited Megan and her friends to an upcoming concert in the fall. "I want to bring Megan with me as my date. I want to celebrate her and hear her roar in person," Katie said on GMA .
