Ex-tavern owner appears in court on welfare fraud charges

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - A former tavern owner made her first court appearance Thursday on welfare fraud charges.

Sue Long is facing two felony and 13 misdemeanor counts for allegedly buying QUEST Cards from customers for cash, which she then used to buy food for Billy Goats Pub.

Long was released on a signature bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 24. Also, her attorney filed a motion seeking to have one of the felony charges dismissed.

Two others were also charged. Bartender and manager Jodie Hanback is scheduled to make her first court appearance Friday. Former bartender Victoria Cannon makes her first court appearance Tuesday.

The city was planning to use the fraud allegations to revoke Billy Goats liquor license, but Long surrendered the license.
