ALTOONA, Iowa (WSAU-Wheeler News) -- For the first time since the 2012 presidential race, Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan made a visit to the Hawkeye State last night.

The vice-presidential candidate appeared for a fundraiser and a birthday party for Iowa Governor Terry Brandstad. During the stop, Ryan thanked supporters for their efforts to elect Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.

During his 20-minute speech, Ryan criticized “big government” and the roll-out of Obamacare, adding that Republicans should be optimistic in opposing it.
