CLINTON, WI (WTAQ) - Authorities in southern Wisconsin said a man disarmed a police officer, and tried shooting the person at point-blank range.
It happened Thursday night in the Rock County community of Clinton.
Police said an officer was sent to an apartment where a 911 caller hung up prematurely.
Commander Troy Knudson said the 58-year-old man got into a “violent” struggle with the officer – and the patrolman disabled the gun before the suspect could fire a shot.
Knudson said the man continued the struggle after backup officers arrived, but he was arrested eventually.
No one was seriously hurt. The suspect was taken to a Beloit hospital to be checked out.
