SHEBOYGAN, WI (WTAQ) - A Sheboygan man is under arrest for disorderly conduct, two weeks after he complained that police used excessive force and was racist against him.
Police said they were called three times Tuesday about 37-year-old Angelo Merritt.
First, officers received a noise complaint and they gave Merritt a warning. Later, police were told that Merritt was acting disorderly in his home – and they cited him for disorderly conduct.
A few minutes later, police were told he was acting aggressively against others outside his home. He was then taken to jail to await charges.
Two weeks ago, Merritt filed a complaint with Sheboygan Police, alleging that an officer punched him in the back of his head before arresting him.
The Sheboygan Press says people have given conflicting accounts about what happened. He has not been charged in that incident, and an internal investigation is looking into Merritt’s complaint.
