VERONA, Wis (WSAU-Wheeler) - Parents were mad that they hadn’t been notified in a timely manner when Verona schools were locked down last Thursday.
Not all parents were alerted because the e-mail and text system reaches out to only those who sign up for it. Even though about five thousand students were locked down, only about 23 hundred parents were notified. The district did make five website postings about the lockdown over a three-hour period.
An Illinois fugitive was arrested Thursday night after a manhunt which lasted all day in south-central Wisconsin. The district’s superintendent has apologized to the parents not notified.
